Tip #1: Extra cutout cloth. What to do with them?

While we were studying for the Public Relations paper during final, I had an experiment during the early morning with Fiza. And this is what I did to her:

Fiza is a size 4/6 (I'm unsure about that) and all the clothes she wore here were all mine. As you can see in the picture above, she wore a huge Esprit sweater, that maybe was a size 12 and what I did to make it tighter was by using my favorite head scarves as the high-waisted belt. And I matched a matching pashmina around the neck for a more dramatic look. She had the oversize sunglass too. Isn't it amazing? What I'm trying to show here is that you can make use of your extra cutout clothing for a lot of things. Like in the picture above, I used the cloth as belt. And here are other options of how you can make used of them:

As head scarves.

As belt.

POWER JIWA (Music + Street Fashion Show)

Fashion and music: Two unseparable elements. Even TV show as cool as The O.C. depend on great music (as can be seen on the show and through their soundtracks). But since this is a local project, by great-talented local people, I would like to give a little promotion on the show. This is organised by Pop Malaya (you know the indie fashion label?) and Free Love Productions (those from the band Free Love?), and it's pretty much like a fashion runway (but in a very humble way) and of course, live gig!! Yeah! Band includes: Couple, Free Love and oh yeah, Oddity!!! Yeargh! Expect to see some great t-shirts for sale. And don't forget to bring some extra cash. You'll definitely want one of those exclussive Pop Malaya tee. Trust me.

All about "Nazirah Talks Fashion"

It’s finally here. The long-awaited, NAZIRAH TALKS FASHION. And if you’ve read my personal blog (Rigid at http://nazirahjadikaku.blogspot.com) before, you might have a clue or two about who I am and what I am like. As you can see, I love fashion (obviously) and writing is the thing that I always like to do. So here goes, the blog that I’ve been planning for all this while.

So what is this blog exactly? What are you going to find here anyway? Basically I’m going to write about fashion, of course. But it’s more than just that I guess. When we talk about fashion, we can’t separate it with beauty, style, clothes, designers, models, fashion mags, the runways, inspirations, style on the street, DIY stuff, great bargains, shopping malls, labels etc. Let me tell you the list of what I’ve been planning to do with this blog:

  1. I’m going to give tips. As in fashion tips. The dos and don’ts in fashion. How you can actually look great without spending too much. On getting the right college look. How to mix and match. Tips and more tips.
  2. I’ll review on great runway collection. Marc Jacobs, Derek Lam, Anna Sui, Dolce & Gabbana, Diane Von Furstenberg, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Cacharel, DSquared2 etc. Yeah, I have never got my hands on any of labels collections, but I believe these are where inspirations come from.

  3. I’m going to show you where to shop for stuff. As in I’ll reveal some of my well-hidden secret of ‘treasure shops’ around town (the Klang Valley and maybe, Johor Bahru), where you’ll get great stuff for great prices and some great stuff you can’t find anywhere.

  4. I’m going to update you on the latest trends. From what is the latest trend on the runway to what’s latest thing you found on the street. From big shades to high-waisted belt, I’ll keep you update so that you won’t feel left out.

  5. I’m going to review some new stuff I bought. Haha, this is the best part of all and let me remind you that I’m not the kind of person who shops like every week, but trust me; I always get great stuff coming.

  6. I’m going to hunt the city for great style. I’m going to walk around Bukit Bintang, KLCC, MidValley or anywhere you think cool, and take pictures of people with great styles.

  7. Models, models, models. Of course, what is fashion without the skinny-exotic-looking models right?

  8. I'm gonna review products. New lipgloss, eyeshadows, facial cleansers, makeup remover; I'll review them all.
  9. I'm gonna have my stylish-looking friends write here, as contributors. You're going to read some writing by my best fashion-partner in crime, Ervina Zulkifla; my handbag ethusiast roomate, Siti Nadia Zahri; my one and only Indian best-ie who knows where to dig for the ever great Indian acccessories, Geetha; my chic lit guru, Suessy; my true-fashionista-cum-ex-school-cheerleader schoolmate, Amira Suraya, my stylish tee-hunter girl, Syikin Radzak (she got some of the coolest tees on Earth) and many more.
  10. More and more stuff to come.

And who should read this blog anyway?

  1. Those PLUS SIZE girls who feel inferior about her body and take that as an excuse for not being stylish. And I mean it this way, because I AM MYSELF A PLUS SIZE (size 16 to be exact), and I know best about the downside of those excessive fats and all, and the difficulties of getting great looking clothes, I know them all. But somehow I manage to keep all of them behind. Because there's no single reason that you should feel bad about yourself, because YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL, and you could be stylish too! Trust me!
  2. Those who have little budget but still want to look as stylish as those who wear Marc Jacobs. Hey, tell you what, it's not the label or the expensive price that should bother you. It's supposed to be how you can make great bargain stuff look expensive and stylish at the same time. I can teach you that dear.
  3. Fellow college students. Especially to those IPTA students who always have hard time in putting on clothes to wear to class.
  4. Those who wear tudung. Okay, I heard enough of excuses that when you wear tudung you can't be stylish. I tell you what, I can shut all those excuses and teach you how to be one.
  5. Those who think they aren't hot. Haha. If you ever dare say anything such to me, you are going to see me pointing those middle finger to you. Yes, rude I am, but NEVER say you aren't HOT. Because YOU ARE. And that EVERYONE IS BEAUTIFUL. Enough said.
  6. Those who have fashion dilemma and all. Okay, if you're having problems of what to wear to a date, or functions whatsoever, DO EMAIL ME FOR HELP!! I can help you out. I can also help you go shop for your stuff too. You can ask my fellow friends whom I've been helping all this while. I never turn down help to give people makeover. I'll do my best!
  7. YOU! You, you, you. Regardless of your SIZE, ETHNICITY, RELIGIONS, GENDER (guys, DO READ) or whatever, you should read this blog and trust me, you're going to learn something new.

Till then people, I'm tired of writing now. I can feel my fingers aching. But I'll update more. Definitely. Don't forget to drop by next time.

Nazirah here. XOXO.

Beautiful Malay girl #1

For my previous fashion photo assignment, I made contact with one of my housemate's classmate, Kak Wani. She's just the perfect model for my shoot. She's beautiful, tall, and she's no size-2-type of girl. She's a size M, and that definitely will make her a size 6/8. Here again, it’s a prove that beauty has got nothing to do with size, but as for me, who do adores those skinny models, I still am very profound of girls with some figures. Voluptuous as they call it.

As you can see here, she’s just gorgeous. Though my shots aren’t really great, but I just enjoyed the whole moment, working with her and all. I brought along with me some borrowed clothes from fellow friends, makeup, accessories and all. What makes it even easier was the fact that she knew just what to do, she can easily strut out great pose for me, the way a good model always did.

[These pictures are all mine. Un-edit. None of those I've sent to the lecturer. Yang dah edit mana letak tak ingat dah]

More reasons... more reasons...

Many Malaysians give excuses to dress well nowadays. Many guys doesn't think there's need to work on those shirt and dress well (unless for functions or dates) and many plus size women think that way too, because they feel inferior and that their body is the downside of the need of being stylish. I'll give you two reasons, WHY you should think about being stylish.

1. Hidetoshi Nakata

Well, guys, you know him. He's a well known Japan footballer, and he had been seen at the recent Louise Vuitton show, looking extremely hot and stylish. Yes, I know many guys are inspired by footballer, so why not this time. You can be as stylish as him too.

2. For PLUS-SIZE WOMEN - The Sartorialist says it all...

My favorite fashion-blogger, the well-know THE SARTORIALIST stated in one of his entry, titled 'At The Saks Event in San Francissco', on this young girl's style: I love the exuberance of this young girl's look. She is not a size 4 and she is not making excuses. There you go, though you're no size-4, cause I'm myself a size-16, there should be no excuses in dressing up and looking good.

Love it all. XOXO

Marc Jacobs and that Hye-Park hottie

I always love the fashion runways. Since it's the hit of the latest Spring 2007 Ready-to-Wear fashion shows, I've been going through Style.com and check on my favorite designers new collection (though I can't afford any). It's kinda odd to actually obsessed about this whole fahion runway thing when you are actually not a consumer. But for me it's how these collections will aspire my look and style, it tells me what is the latest trend, what outfit should I be looking for and all the other craps. Haha. Those things for me aren't really crap, it's just that sometimes it hurts when you always wish you could get them but then again you couldn't. As for me, Marc by Marc Jacobs portray the best collection to date. With all those patchwork, those hippie-pattern shirts, striking-color wedges and those high-top sneakers with lots of buckle did give me some of ideas of what I should be hunting for while shopping in the near future. I've been thinking of getting myself a nice hippie-pattern shirt and a pair of nice wedges for Aidilfitri, which will be extremely amazing. (Oh Mummy, let's go shopping). And yeah, I can't wait for the upcoming collaboration between Topshop and legendary model, Kate Moss since I'm a consumer of the label. Yee-har!

But what caught my attention the most (in terms of the models), was definitely Korean-born model, Hye Park (see the three pictures above). It's not that I haven't seen her before, it's just that I hadn't give her any such attention the way I did with Gemma, Coco, Lily and Irina. Hye Park is not that hot but her face strike the look of a pure model. She may look like other Chinese/Japan/Korean model with those mata sepet but there's something about the way she looks. It's just so model-type. What more, she's an Asian and I'm proud of her for that fact! [All pictures taken from Style.com]
